Free money for your child's financial future
A new law creates tax-advantaged investment accounts for American children — with seed contributions available from the federal government and the Dell Foundation. Here's what every parent should know.
See if your child qualifiesChild born on or after January 1, 2025?
Children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 are eligible for a free $1,000 government seed contribution deposited directly into a Trump Account. Available to every qualifying U.S. citizen in that birth window — no income test required. Enrollment opens July 4, 2026 at trumpaccounts.gov.
Child age 10 or under and didn't get the $1,000?
Michael and Susan Dell pledged $6.25 billion to give $250 to the first 25 million children age 10 and under who fall outside the federal birth window — in ZIP codes with median incomes below $150,000. This cannot be combined with the federal $1,000. Use the official checker to see if your child qualifies.

Tax-deferred growth
Money grows without being taxed year over year — similar to a traditional IRA, maximizing compounding over time.
Contribute up to $5,000/year
Parents, grandparents, and employers can all contribute annually, with the first $2,500 from employers excluded from income.
Flexible use at 18
At age 18, funds can be used for education, a first home, or starting a business — or rolled into a retirement account.
Long-term upside
With maximum contributions, the White House projects an account could be worth nearly $1.1 million by age 28.
